Cambridge, MA – Metalmark today announced that it has received its first patent on the company’s self-renewing air cleaning system. Marketed as Metalmark Tatama, the system is the result of over seven years of R&D with support from the National Science Foundation and others. The inventors are Metalmark co-founders Sissi Liu, Elijah Shirman, Ph.D., and Tanya Shirman, Ph.D..
Sissi Liu, the CEO of Metalmark, said, “This patent illustrates the truly novel nature of the work that the Metalmark team has undertaken over the past several years. No other company offers a system like Tatama that brings in air from the room, passes it through a unique, enhanced-HEPA filter to capture over 99.97% of particles, and cleans itself periodically. Owing to our now-patented technology, organizations can install Tatama and start enjoying cleaner air without worrying about filter changes for up to five years.”
Metalmark Tatama is designed for in-ceiling mounting to service the air of a 1,000 square foot room (with 8-foot ceiling) such as a classroom or office conference room, delivering up to three air changes per hour. It also provides real-time air quality information to provide facility managers and other organizational stakeholders with in-depth IAQ insights and building-level system management and controls.
